Chennai Insider: Tell us a little about yourself.
Priyadarshini: I am Priyadarshini Vijayakumar, an engineering graduate, and a fashion/lifestyle blogger from Chennai. Yes! you read that right, I work in IT as a full-time product marketer. Basically an engineer at heart and blogger by passion!
Chennai Insider: How did you start your journey into fashion blogging? What is the story behind it?
Priyadarshini: I’ve always wanted to do something out of the box, and when I started 5 years back there were not many people who were blogging in Chennai and that really made me do it.
I would say that this is the best decision I have ever taken. The main motive behind High on Style is to provide a source of authenticity and a display of the actual use of fashion/lifestyle with my personal style to the general public.
Chennai Insider: How would you describe your personal style? What are some of your must-haves?
Priyadarshini: Oh! I am always a basics girl! I believe in effortless styling. Also, the must haves! on top of my mind would be a
- A classic white shirt
- Pair of denims
- Little Black dress
- Red Jacket
- Black Tshirt
Chennai Insider: Being an influencer, you have the ability to inspire your audience. What are the few things you advocate on your platform, things that you truly believe in?
Priyadarshini: Being unique is something I truly believe in! as much as we can get inspired by other people, try adding your own touch to create unique content. So yeah, be unique, be consistent and ALWAYS CREATE RELATABLE CONTENT.
Chennai Insider: What about your job do you love the most? What is it that keeps you going?
Priyadarshini: Everything about being a blogger is my favorite but the best part of it all would be getting access to new collections and trends at times and the fact that we get to interact with all the iconic brands and their teams in person. But the thing that keeps me going is my passion for it and all the beautiful followers who support me through the way.
Chennai Insider: What do you think you’d have been doing if you weren’t a fashion blogger?
Priyadarshini: I am already an engineer who works in IT and that is another dream job come true so I wouldn’t want to have it any other way.
Chennai Insider: What does Fashion mean to you? What do you think was the turning point in your career?
Priyadarshini: Fashion means being comfortable and confident in your own self. You can just wear a basic white tee and a pair of denims and rock the look with your styling ideas.
Turning point would be when I was featured in the Ritz magazine under “The top 5 influencers to follow in south India”. I knew I was doing the right thing and I knew I wanted to keep going and achieve greater things.
Chennai Insider: Tell us about a day in your life, from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed.
Priyadarshini: Ah! this is a question I love answering.
Of course, before the pandemic life was different. It used to be wake up, cook breakfast and lunch because I take food to office, go to office, work till 6ish (mine is a proper 8 hours IT job), and rush to events if any or store launches then get back home, finish posting content and go to bed with a huge satisfaction.
Chennai Insider: What are your goals for the future? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Priyadarshini: This is a long list but I will try to keep it short. I definitely have huge plans for my blog, grow in terms of content. And, I just started started my YouTube channel so I plan on creating more content there, say 1 Lakh followers in the next few years (Fingers crossed :P)
In 5 years where do I see myself? to be very honest, I don’t think much of the future, I like to just go with the flow and I’ve seen good things happening that way!
